- To install Easy Menu create the new directory EM for it on your
- hard disc then copy the four files EM.BAT, EM. EXE, EM.D1 and
- EM.D2 from the distribution disc.
-
- Please note that the executable file has a hidden character in
- the name. You must use copy EM*.* and NOT copy EM.* to transfer
- the files.
-
- Just change to the EM directory and type "EM". There are no
- "instructions" for Easy Menu - You wont need any! However,
- please read these notes:-
-
- 1. If you add the lines CD\EM and EM to the end of your
- autoexec.bat file then you can kiss goodby to the DOS
- prompt.
-
- 2. If you add the EM directory to your path statement then
- add the complete path including drive letter otherwise
- Easy Menu will not reload after calling a program on
- another drive.
-
- 3. Each time Easy Menu reloads after calling one of your
- programs it erases and re writes its batch file EM.BAT
- You should therefore be careful not to switch off during
- this process. Normally this is not a problem as it happens
- immediately on reload but if you are running Smartdrive
- the disc write can be delayed several seconds. Keep a
- spare copy of EM.BAT just in case you ever lose it in this
- way.
-
- 4. There is a known conflict between Easy Menu and certain
- TSR programs which detect file alterations. The conflict
- causes Easy Menu to hang up - usually when switching
- between the user menu and the System menu. This conflict
- only happens on some machines and not others. TSR's which
- have caused this include Dr Solomons anti virus toolkit
- and DOS5's Mirror.Com with the "t" option set. If your
- Easy Menu hangs up on you please test it without any TSR's
- before contacting the author.
-
- 5. When you add a new item to Easy Menu it is inserted in
- alphabetic order. If you subsequently edit that item then
- its position is not changed. If you want an item to appear
- out of order eg. first on the list then add it with a
- false name so that it appears where you want it then edit
- the name.
